About Me

Hi! My name is Micaela Quibell, and I have the sincere pleasure of being a Registered Massage Therapist. My approach to treatment is equal parts relaxation and therapeutic massage, as I believe one is required for the other to succeed. My scope of practice includes “the assessment of the soft tissue and joints of the body and the treatment and prevention of physical dysfunction and pain of the soft tissue and joints by manipulation to develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function, or relieve pain.” Whew!

Basically said, I work on the soft tissues and joints of the body in cases of injury, disuse, malfunction, poor posture, overuse, and all types of pain. I am educated and trained to accurately assess and treat with techniques that include massage and manual therapy, joint mobilization, hydrotherapy, and rehabilitative exercise such as stretching, strengthening, postural exercise, and patient education. As an RMT, I am required to, and very much look forward to, continue my education throughout my career.

I graduated in June, 2015 from D’Arcy Lane Institute in London, ON, which opened in 1986. D’Arcy was one of the first schools of massage therapy in Canada, and continues to be one of the best schools in Ontario. There I gained many hours of hands on experience at the onsite clinic, as well as numerous hours out in the community of London volunteering at various outreaches such as the University of Western Ontario, St. John’s Hospice, Bell Canada, TD Waterhouse, among others.

Since graduating, I have worked in a variety of settings, including a physiotherapy clinic, a hospice, a spa, and a home based practice. I also became very fond of working outside the clinic setting, and have done many work place treatments in various environments such as offices, women’s retreats, a hospital, a men’s health fair at the Alderville First Nation’s Reserve, and even a staff appreciation event at a super jail, to name a few.

Massage therapy came into my life close to middle age, and has since opened my world to so many exciting opportunities. I am thrilled to work with a like-minded and motivated group of women at the Antigonish Wellness Collective, and look forward to new experiences the future has in store.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about me, and I look forward to meeting you!
