Micaela Quibell, Registered Massage Therapist
Fusing clinical, therapeutic treatment with soothing, relaxing massage in beautiful Warkworth, Ontario.
Well, the decision had to be made, whether I wanted to make it or not!
The College of Massage Therapy of Ontario has made the strong recommendation today that all RMTs close their doors to all but essential treatments. In my mind, there is no such thing as essential massage. I strongly believe that massage helps alot of people, in alot of ways, but in the current climate, to call what I do “essential” would be grossly inaccurate.
Ours is not the only professional college to make this recommendation… the colleges of chiropractors, physiotherapists, and dentists have all made the same request. We are called to do our part to support the ACTUAL essential health care providers (aka super heroes!) by reducing exposure as much as possible, and not adding more to the mind bending workload they have ahead of them.
And even so, this decision was so hard, because even though what I do is not essential, it’s jus t so flippin lovely! I’ve received many messages in the last couple days of people needing to de-stress, to relieve the tension they are physically feeling, to have even just an hour of peace. Man, do I ever want to provide this! I’m already feeling the lack of human connection… my kids are getting the brunt of it, sooo many hugs!
Both Sharpe Physiotherapy and my home clinic will be closed indefinitely, and we will continuously reassess the situation to determine reopening, based on government recommendations. The moment we are notified that the recommendation has been lifted, you better believe I’ll be ringing the bells all over town!
In the meantime, if you need any help figuring out ways to self treat at home, please don’t hesitate to email email@example.com, or text or call 705-875-0824.
Stay safe, everyone! Help where you can! Peace!

Hi! My name is Micaela Quibell, and I have the sincere pleasure of being a Registered Massage Therapist. My approach to treatment is equal parts relaxation and therapeutic massage, as I believe one is required for the other to succeed. My scope of practice includes “the assessment of the soft tissue and joints of the body and the treatment and prevention of physical dysfunction and pain of the soft tissue and joints by manipulation to develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function, or relieve pain.” Whew!
Basically said, I work on the soft tissues and joints of the body in cases of injury, disuse, malfunction, poor posture, overuse, and all types of pain. I am educated and trained to accurately assess and treat with techniques that include massage and manual therapy, joint mobilization, hydrotherapy, and rehabilitative exercise such as stretching, strengthening, postural exercise, and patient education. As an RMT, I am required to, and very much look forward to, continue my education throughout my career.
I graduated in June, 2015 from D’Arcy Lane Institute in London, ON, which opened in 1986. D’Arcy was one of the first schools of massage therapy in Canada, and continues to be one of the best schools in Ontario. There I gained many hours of hands on experience at the onsite clinic, as well as numerous hours out in the community of London volunteering at various outreaches such as the University of Western Ontario, St. John’s Hospice, Bell Canada, TD Waterhouse, among others. I am passionate about serving my community of Warkworth and Trent Hills, and hope to use my gifts wherever they are needed most.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about me, and I look forward to meeting you!
